All Customer Requests, All The Time

This week's release consists entirely of features requested by customers via our feedback forum, http://cubetree.uservoice.com. You've asked for it, so you're gonna get ...

Blogs In Your Groups
Customers use groups for many different reasons. For each way of using a group, there has been a request to provide blogs in the group. For example, groups are used
  • "... to organize project team information in one place - including who is on the team, wiki content, and related documents. We want to have a blog in our project group so everyone on the team can easily help maintain a single project blog."
  • "... to organize our internal sales teams around customer POC [Proof of Concept] pilots. We want blogs [in our groups] to chronologically capture the deal process so we can do win-loss analysis after the fact."
  • "... by our product team to collaborate with our beta customers [using cross-company groups]. We want to share a blog with the customers to capture how we are mapping features to use cases the customers suggest."
There have been so many requests for blogs to be added to groups that, starting in this release, we've added a blog to every group in this release. Look for it down the left-hand menu inside groups.

Delete, Delete, Delete, and Restore
Users have been asking for the ability to delete groups, polls and wiki pages since the very first day they were able to add them.

Starting in this release, everything you create inside CubeTree can be easily deleted by moving it to the Trash. This includes:

Groups, when you view your groups by clicking "Groups" in the top menu.

Polls, when you view your polls by clicking "Profile" in the top menu and then "Polls" in the left-hand menu.

Wiki Pages, when you view a wiki page which you've created

But what if you accidentally delete a group or wiki page and wish you hadn't? You can restore any of the content you delete by going to your profile and choosing Trash in the left-hand menu.

Choose Your Features

Every CubeTree network is different and enterprise admins have been requesting the ability to configure what features are enabled in their network.

Starting in this release, CubeTree admins (you know who you are) will find a new "Features" menu in the admin panel. There you can configure what features are available in your company network.

Still think something is missing? Shoot us an email at support@cubetree.com or post your feedback at http://cubetree.uservoice.com.

3 Big New Things (Weekly Release)

This week's release is a big one. Big, big because we are releasing three significant upgrades to help your teams get work done faster using CubeTree.

#1 New Version of the CubeTree Desktop Client

The first version of CubeTree's Desktop Client, CubeDeck, gave you a real-time notification of new feed items in your feed via a pop-up window on your desktop.
This week we are releasing a major upgrade to the desktop client with new features to let you
  • View all your feed items
  • Get alerted to new feed items
  • Counts of unread feed items
  • Mark feed items
  • Update your status
  • Upload a document
  • Comment on any feed item
  • ... and get notified of your feed items via a pop-up.
CubeDeck is built using Adobe Air and runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux Platforms. It takes one click to install and is available on our client page, https://www.cubetree.com/site/clients

#2 Epic New Wiki Features
We continue to upgrade the wiki functionality based on your user requests (and some stuff we think is pretty exciting). This week, we've gone big with the new features:

Wiki page view analytics

Ever wonder who is viewing your content? Are people following important revisions? CubeTree provides visual tracking of page views and revisions for every wiki page, complete with links to view the change.

Go to a wiki page and click "Page Views" in the left-hand menu to see the report.
Embed rich media content in your wiki pages

CubeTree wikis support partner widgets, so you can embed a Google Calender, a Scribd document or a SlideShare presentation to add rich media content to your shared wiki pages. The list of supported widgets is long and growing.

Edit a wiki page and click the "widget" button in the edit menu to see the embed menu.

Easily tag wiki pages

We've added a new section to make it easy for you to add tags to your wiki pages.

When viewing a wiki page, click "Tags" on the left-hand menu to add a tag identifying the type of content in the page.
#3 Blackberry Client Released to GA

The CubeTree BlackBerry client has been in beta for the last few weeks. This week we're taking off the beta label and releasing this version fully!

You can download the BlackBerry client from the client page, https://www.cubetree.com/site/clients

Lastly, all the work in this release is in direct response to the requests made by you in the feedback forum, http://cubetree.uservoice.com/. This week's features address a total of 54 votes and 11 seperate feature requests! Keep the feedback coming and we'll keep adding features.

Task Management From Within Your Feed (Weekly Release)

This week's release adds a new click available within your feed: Action Items!

Task Management Using Action Items
Users have been requesting a way to do quick task management within CubeTree since the very early site designs. We've been working with beta customers to come up with the right solution- and this week we are releasing the result, Action Items within your feed.

Action Items are not a replacement for Gantt charts.  They aren't are a way to lay out a 5 year plan. But they are a way to rapidly create and assign tasks, based on the events publishing in your feed.  The way you create Action Items will depend on the type of information in your feed.  Examples from beta customers included:
  • "Our feed is mostly status updates from remote consultants .... we are using Action Items to easily record follow-up questions to be answered for customers."
  • "We use the Wiki a lot, so most of our events are changes to Wiki pages.  We are using Action Items to record new work that needs to be done based on a Wiki page.  For example, starting to run a Google AdWords campaign recorded in our wiki marketing plan."
  • "Most of our feed items are shared links: competitive intelligence, partner news, events from EMEA, etc.  The executive team is using Action Items to assign follow-up tasks for the content they want researched in more detail."
You can create Action Items in two places within CubeTree.
  1. First, you can simply click the Action Item link below a feed item.
  2. Or, you can go into your profile and click the Action Items add link in the left-hand menu.
When you create an Action Item you can add a description, assign it to yourself or another user in the network, and (optional) set a due date.  Once created, the Action Item will appear in the feed.  You can view a list of Action Items and their priority as part of each user's profile.

More Functionality in Your Wiki
Requests keep coming in with ideas about how we can further enhance CubeTree's Wiki feature.  This week we've added several new features which users have requested, including...
  • A way to publish a Wiki page while limiting who can make changes to the page.  We've added the ability to lock your Wiki page so that no other users in the the network can make changes.
  • An email notification the first time your Wiki page is viewed by another user.  Starting this week you will get an email the the first time another user views your Wiki page (this is the same email notification you may have gotten when a link you published is clicked).
  • When you edit your Wiki pages you can now resize table cells by simply clicking on the table, then dragging the table cell to the size you want.
If you think of something that you think would make CubeTree more valuable for your team, send an email to support@cubetree.com or add your feature request at  http://cubetree.uservoice.com.
