In July we rolled out a new special keyword "@@email" that allows you to direct message an entire Group's membership or all of your personal followers. We changed the keyword from "email" to "notify" to because with "email" users expected that an email was being sent. However, because users can change their account settings to disable emails being sent for direct messages, emails are not always sent.
@@email will still be supported (the system will make the change from @@email to @@notify for you).
"Now Following" Notification Items Removed from Feeds
We heard from many of you that in large groups or organizations the volume of "now following" notifications was overwhelming. To remedy this we have removed the "now following" notifications from the Company, Group and My Follows feeds.
These "now following" notifications will no longer appear in your feed.
You will no longer receive notifications in the feed when new people start following a person or a group. You can still see who's following a person from their Profile Tab > Social Graph page and see who's following a Group from the Group Name > Members page.
